Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has a requirement for preparation of GIS maps depicting Benthic Habitats of the Hawaiian Islands and associated services. The period of performance of the contract is nine months. Aerial photographs, hyperspectral imagery, and IKONOS imagery will be used to create maps of the region's marine resources including coral reefs, seagrass beds and other important habitats for fisheries, tourism and other aspects of the coastal economy. Accurate habitat maps are necessary for resource managers to make informed decisions about the protection and use of these areas. The benthic habitat maps will be produced by manual delineation of habitats in GIS from aerial photographs, hyperspectral imagery, and IKONOS imagery. This acquisition is being conducted pursuant to Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-2, "Unusual and compelling urgency." Solicitation 52-DGNC-1-90096 will be issued on or about August 31, 2001 and will close on or about September 14, 2001. This CBD notice supersedes the CBD notice identified as W-191 SN50R358, posted in the CBDNet on July 10, 2001, which had stated that NOAA intended to negotiate this requirement on a sole source basis. Based on information received in response to the earlier CBD notice, this requirement is no longer being negotiated on a sole source basis. All responsible sources may submit an offer for this requirement.
