Description

NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE -- The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) facility in Morgantown, WV has a requirement to purchase 11 EACH of a Vibration Exposure Watch (VEW) which is a modified version of the Precision Control Design's Octogonal Sleep Watch. The watch will be used to measure the hand vibration exposure pattern among workers who use power hand tools. We require a long-term (more than 8 hours) measurement at a high frequency sampling rate (more than 1000 Hz), on-line data processing, and large memory. The weight and size must not be greater than that of a man's wristwatch. This purchase will also include two interface units, analysis software and some engineering services required to customize the VEW to our specifications (which will be made available, if requested). The government intends to negotiate on a non-competitive basis with Precision Control Design, Inc., Fort Walton Beach, Florida because they are the only known company that can provide a product that meets our stated basic requirements. Organizations who believe they can provide a customized vibration exposure watch may fully explain their capabilities and qualifications in writing within 10 days from the date of this announcement.
