Description

This procurement is being conducted as a commercial item acquisition in accordance with FAR Part 12. The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Augusta, Georgia contemplates negotiation of a sole source procurement with Medtronics Midas Rex, 4620 North Beach Street, Fort Worth, Texas 76137, to procure one (1) each Midas Motor III Surgical Instrument System. Currently same system is being utilized in joint venture with military hospital for VA patients and patients referred by Department of Defense. Due to overwhelming demand for specialized system, a second system is being procured in order to eliminate cancellation of scheduled surgeries and to be interchangeable with current system. Parts and service manuals are required. Delivery is FOB destination. Negotiations to begin on or about September 6, 2001. Applicable NAICS code is 339112. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all proposals received within 15 days after publication of this synopsis. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability by submitting literature, detailing how their products meet VA requirements stated above, and references to the Contracting Officer or by fax to 706-731-7172 no later than 4:00 p.m. on September 6, 2001. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
