- Description
- The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a Verdi 2 watt single frequency laser system with the following specifications: 1) Power 2 watt or greater, wavelength 532 nanometers; noise less than 0.02 percent rms from 10 hertz to 1 gigahertz; linewidth less than 5 megahertz, single longitudinal mode; power stability plus or minus 1 percent over 2 hours after a 15 minute warmup; pointing stability less than micro rad/deg.C, these parameters are essential for our pumping needs. 2) The laser must deliver non-mode-hop, single-longitudinal-mode output; ie, linewidth must be under 2 megahertz. 3) The laser must have a noise performance of lower than 0.2 percent rms from 10 hertz to 1 gigahertz. 4) When replacing the pump laser diode modules, the laser head position and beam propagation path must not change, nor shall the laser cavity require any realignment or exposure to the laboratory environment. 5) To ensure maximum pump diode lifetime, the laser system must automatically and continuously optimize the pump diode wavelength to maximize optical conversion efficiency. Systems that use an assumed pre-programmed decay rate are unacceptable. 6) All optical elements must be permanently fixed and aligned in the optical cavity for long term ease of use and reliability. Adjustable optic mounts of any kind are unacceptable. 7) All specifications must be clearly stated in published vendor brochures and/or data sheets. It is the intent of the Government to award this procurement on a sole source basis under authority of 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) with Coherent Laser Group of Denver, Co. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100,000). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. No RFQ is available. All technical questions shall be addressed to Chris Muzny of NIST at 303 497-5549.
