Description

This work consists of site preparation and grading, construction of berms, and planting of trees and ground cover necessary for the establishment of a wetland. The total property is approximately 25 acres with about 8.7 acres being existing wetlands outside the area requiring restoration work. The site is located in Benton, Kentucky (Marshall County) behind the Wal-Mart Super Center of Kentucky Route 348. Approximate quanties of major items of work include about 8,500 CY of sod stripping, 3,400 CY of excavation, about 66,000 SY of wetland grass seeding, and the planting of approximately 7,000 tree seedlings. After completion of the site preparation work and construction of the berms, the site will be planted with either a mix of wetland grasses and sedges or native grasses. Eight shallow monitoring wells are to be constructed to document restoration of wetland hydrology. The contractor is responsible for plant care and replacement through the period of establishment. The period of establishment is twelve months following the initial tree planting. Contractor shall provide 100% survival of the specified species at the end of the period of establishment. Bidders are responsible for printing paper copies of the solicitation. Bids will be opened on or about 3 October at 2:00 pm. Completion time for this project is 550 days. This project is 100% Small Business Set-Aside. The NAICS Code is 234990 with a size standard of $27.5 Million Dollars. The project range is $100,000.00 to $250,000.00 and bonding is required.
