- Description
- The USAID Mission to Kenya intends to procure the services of a Natural Resource Management Advisor (NRMA) through a non-personal services, cost reimbursement-type contract. The selected individual will manage the forestry/range rehabilitation activity under the Natural Resources Management (NRM)/biodiversity Strategic Objective No. 5 (SO5). The NRMA position will be based in the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS). The incumbent shall provide technical advise to KWS' forestry program and take responsibility for technical and strategic duties. The Advisory duties of the NRMA include support to KWS on wildlife census and monitoring forestry management, including backstopping ecological monitoring programs. Technical duties include the management of the forestry/range rehabilitiation program. SO5 Strategic planning duties include being a member of the SO5 team, taking responsibility for intermediate result (IR) 5.1.1, "Tools and Technologies Adopted" and IR 5.4.0, "Environmental Advocacy Strengthened." Other responsibilities include representing USAID at donor meetings related to forestry management, advising Government of Kenya on resource use planning and donor coordination. Evaluation criteria include Advanced education in technical field related to natural resources management, 10 years professional experience in natural resources management, preferably in East Africa, working experience in forestry, rural communities, socio-economic and ecological systems and GIS as well as strategic planning and management experience. Communications skills (written, oral & Ki-Swahili) will also be evaluated. Salary history and range will be considered in evaluating the reasonableness of proposed salary.
