***** THIS IS A REVISED SYNOPSIS TO MODIFY THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT********* The Respiratory Diseases Branch of the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, National Institute of Allergy and I nfectious Diseases, has a requirement for a collaborative, multifaceted clinical and research effort focused on the preventi on of Group B Streptococcal (GBS) infection and disease. This effort will include studies in selected populations to furthe r understand the nature of GBS colonization and disease, and on studies of the host immune response to GBS. It is envisione d that one contract will be awarded, with the contractor coordinating the effort through the use of subcontracts with labora tories and clinical centers to provide patient populations and/or competences in particular areas of research that complemen t the abilities and populations available to the primary offeror. It is anticipated that the proposed contract resulting from this RFP will be for a period of five (5) years, beginning appro ximately on July 1, 2002. RFP NIH-NIAID-DMID-02-13 will be available electronically on or about August 21, 2001, and may be accessed through the NIAID Contract Management Branch (CMB) Home Page by using the following electronic address and instruc tions: NIAID/CMB Home Page (via the WWW): Use http://www.niaid.nih.gov/contract to access the NIAID/CMB Home Page. Please note that the RFP for this acquisition has been revised to include only the Work Statement, Deliverable and Reporting Requirements, if any, the Technical Evaluation Criteria, and the Specific RFP Instructions and Provisions. Following proposal submission and the initial review process, Offerors comprising the competitive range may be requested to provide additional documentation to the Contracting Officer. Responses to this RFP will be due on or about November 7, 2001. Any responsible Offeror may su bmit a proposal, which will be considered by the Government.
