Description
The Social Security Administration, (SSA), plans to issue a solicitation for the competitive acquisition of maintenance and relocation services for LANs, and associated equipment, located in approximately 1,700 offices. These offices include SSA Headquarters located in Baltimore, Maryland, SSA Regional and Field Offices located throughout the United States and its territories and protectorates and State Disability Determination Services. SSA requires maintenance services for Token Ring Local Area Networks (LANs) using Microsoft Windows, NT 4.0 with IBM compatible 586 base processors. The LAN and associated workstations consist of workstations, file servers, laser printers, switches and routers. These system devices include Network Interface Cards, modems, additional memory, printers, network support devices and other components. The maintenance requirements consist of 1) remedial on-call maintenance for components including network devices, cable plant and all other LAN devices attached or operating on the networks, to be performed on a fixed price per call basis; 2) movement of equipment covered by this contract on a fixed price per relocation basis; and 3). Performance of task orders which may include repairs and modifications to local area networks, component installation, performing network analyses and providing advice about efficient network usage. Remedial maintenance calls have a return to service by close of business the next day. The Government anticipates approximately 20 relocations to be performed per year per Region. The majority of the relocations will be in the same geographical location (within 30 miles). It is anticipated that as a result of this issuance of a solicitation, a contract will be awarded that will result in a contract with a base year and four one-year options. The resultant contract will be a firm fixed-price performance based contract. This acquisition will be subject to Part 12 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), regarding the acquisition of commercial items and to FAR Part 15 through FAC 97-22. The NAICS code 811212 shall apply to this solicitation. SSA-RFP-02-0001 is expected to be released on or after July 27, 2001, with proposals due 30 days thereafter. This solicitation will be available for download in electronic form at http:/wwwfedbizups.gov. Interested parties may also receive the RFP by mail if unable to download from the Internet. Any firm requesting a copy of SSA-RFP-02-0001 must submit its request in writing within fifteen days of this announcement. All requests should site SSA-RFP-02-0001. Request for the RFP may be sent via telefax to (410) 965-9560. No telephone requests will be honored.
