- Description
- The USDA, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), intends to negotiate solely with QIAGEN, Inc. in Valencia, CA, to furnish, deliver, and install a Qiagen 8000 BioRobot System (item 900500) and Accessories to the National Center for Cool and Cold Water Aquaculture (NCCCWA) in Leetown, West Virginia. This system will be used to fully automate high-throughput sample processing and liquid handling tasks relating to genomics research. The system must be capable of precision liquid handling to set up PCR reactions, sequencing reactions, and isolation of plasmid DNA (preparation from shotgun and cDNA libraries) from bacterial cells in 96-well format. The system must also be compatible with an ABI automated DNA analyzer and work in tandem with the Qiagen 9600 System currently in use at the USDA, ARS, Eastern Regional Research Center in Wyndmoor, PA. Necessary reagents and consumables for which applications are developed must be available. The system can prepare 384 separate plasmids in 2 hours which are suitable for use in the ABI automated DNA analyzer. =20 Total system support includes software, hardware, consumables, and QIAGEN chemistries from a single source. The order shall include: ITEM 01 -- One (1) EA, BioRobot 8000 Robotic Workstation (item 900500) with a 100 cm worktable, 8 dilutor drives, 4 probes and 4 disposable tips robotic arm, varispan, tubing, cables, Desktop PC with windows-based operating system software; One (1) EA of the following, MultiFlow Dispensing System High-speed 4-plate shaker with MicroPlate Holder; Buffer Tracking System. Robotic Handling System and Sample Tracking System including CCD camera for identifying bar codes with a reading field of 80 x 10 mm. and holds up to 12 linear racks of 96 sample tubes. Tip Changing System. Tip-disposal Unit 8 Channel, including eight (8) tips and a Tip-Adapter using 1100 ul. disposable tips. Capable of Multi-dispensing 50 ul into 96 wells in one minute. Distribution with dispenser to 96-well block (500ul). The system shall have a minimum detectable volume of 200ul of 0.9% sodium chloride in a 16mm tube or microtube sitting in a metal block. The minimum pipetting volume is 1uL with a CV of 2% or better. Wash Station -- Inner and outer surfaces of the tips can be thoroughly washed using ddH2O or a nonionic disinfectant solution. Microprocessor-controller shaker and vacuum pump; Automated Vacuum System; Variable Heating/Cooling System; 96-well Magnet; Calibration Pyramid and 16 Microplate Station 8000; and 8 Disposable Tippack-Holders. ITEM 02- One (1) JOB, Installation and Training and a one (1) year standard commercial warranty on equipment and software. ITEM 03 -- One (1) YEAR, Extended Service Warranty on parts and labor for the system and accessories. Accessories include: ITEM 04- One (1) EA, Accessory Cabinet 8000, and ITEM 05 -One (1) EA, Laboratory Cabinet 8000. Desktop PC: Compaq EP Pentium II and Keyboard (OR EQUAL) 400MHz, 64 MB RAM, 10GB Hard Drive; 3-1/2" disk/1.44 MB Diskette Drive, CD0ROM, VGA 17" Color Monitor (OR EQUAL), IBM PS/2 compatible mouse (OR EQUAL) and a Windows based operating system and cables. The Qiagen software is Y2K Compliant. The system and software must also meet the Section 508 Accessibility Compliance Clause. All Electronic and Information Technology (EIT) procured through this contract must meet the applicable accessibility standards at 36 CFR 1194. DELIVERY: F.O.B. Destination, within Consignee's Premises, to the USDA, ARS, National Center for Cool and Cold Water Aquaculture (NCCCWA), 11876 Leetown Road, Leetown, West Virginia, 25430, within 60 calendar days after receipt of the purchase order. MANUALS -- The company shall provide one (1) copy each of the users, software, and maintenance manuals for each item. Manuals shall be delivered with the equipment. INSTALLATION -- Shall be coordinated with the COR (to be named at time of award) and completed within two (2) weeks after delivery. TRAINING -- The company shall provide a minimum of 1 day on-site training for a maximum of four (4) people, includes all pertinent training materials, and is completed within two (2) weeks after delivery. Training shall be coordinated with the COR (to be named at time of award). WARRANTY -- A standard one (1) year commercial warranty including parts and labor on the equipment and a standard commercial software warranty. EXTENDED WARRANTY -- A one (1) year, Extended Service Warranty on parts and labor for the system and accessories. Companies with the demonstrated capability and financial capacity to provide and service such equipment must include detailed technical information and other technical literature demonstrating the ability to meet these requirements. Responses shall also include itemized pricing that is sufficient to make a determination that competition is feasible. If no affirmative responses are received with 10 days of publication of this notice to determine whether a qualified source is more advantageous to the Government, an order will be placed with QIAGEN Inc. The NAICS Code is 334516 with a size standard of 500 employees. This is not a request for proposal. No solicitation is available.
