Description
"Chiller-Cooling Tower Replacement", Akron Federal Building, Akron, Ohio. The work consists of a Base Bid and Options A and B. The work under the base bid consists of the following: Replacement of one (1) -- 270 Ton water-cooled chiller, two (2) chilled water pumps and two (2) condenser water pumps located in the 6th floor mechanical penthouse, and two (2) -- 270 Ton cooling towers located in the tower pan above the penthouse, replacement of six (6) 3-way control valve with 2-way control valves at cooling coils in air handlers No. 1 through 6 for conversion to variable flow, a plate heat exchanger for free cooling, replacement of chilled water and condenser water piping and valves in penthouse, and chilled water control systems upgrade. A crane of adequate capacity shall be provided by the contractor to remove the old chiller and cooling towers and replace with new equipment. Adequate space for locating the crane is on the south side -- open parking lot, and on the north side -- Market Street. Lifting and setting of chiller and cooling towers shall be done on weekends when the building is unoccupied. Required start-up date for the new chilled water system is April 1, 2002. Option A consists of replacement of cooling coil banks in air handling units No. 1 and 2, located in the 6th floor mechanical penthouse. Option B consists of replacement of cooling coils in air handling units No. 3 and 6 located in the 6th floor mechanical penthouse. Offers will be accepted from both large and small business concerns. The NAICS code is 235110, and the small business size standard is $11.5 million. The estimated cost is between $500,000 to $1,000,000. GSA is issuing this solicitation only electronically. The Request for Proposal will be posted on or about August 24, 2001. Women-owned, veteran, and small disadvantaged businesses are encouraged to submit an offer.
