Description
The Agency for HealthCare Research and Quality(AHRQ), through the Program Support Center, General Acquisition Branch plans to award a 6 month sole source using simplified acquisition procedures to the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), 11400 Tomahawk Creek Parkway, Leawood, Ks 66211. The anticipated date of award is September 1, 2001. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) will support the second meeting of the international research team, Primary Care International Study of Medical Errors (PCISME), which will immediately follow the North American Primary Care Research Group (NAPCRG) annual meeting, being held October 13-16, 2001, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The workshop will discuss the finding and implications of an international study supported by the Commonwealth Fund and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) on medical errors in the primary care setting. The workshop would be a continuation of past collaborations with the Commonwealth Fund, and the AAFP with the possibility of additional collaborations in the future. AHRQ's support of this workshop will allow the participation of additional researchers who are expert in reduction of errors in primary care. As a result of support for the workshop, AHRQ will be acknowledged on publications resulting from the study, and receive a full report of the meetings, including recommendations for future support for international studies on medical errors. The Contractor shall be responsibility for but not limited to the following: a. Prepare a list and invite international experts and participants to discuss the primary care medical error report and proposed agenda. b. Provide grants to PCISME investigators to attend meeting. c. Workshop proceedings outlining plans for the next state of PCISME. AHRQ will have a record of the discussion. Schedule of Deliverables: a. Invitation list and proposed agenda. Due Date -- one month after contract award b. Confirmed attendee list and final agenda. Due Date -- 2 months after contract award c. A report of the meeting outlining plans for the next stage of PCISME. They envisage this next phase involving the same six countries as the 2001 study, but also extended to other countries with representatives at NAPCRG. Due Date -- 4 months after contract award The proposed simplified acquisition is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of far 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest by responding to the requirement within 10 days after the date of publication of this notice. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed simplified acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No solicitation is available.
