Description

This project is a Request for Quotes to obtain archaeological services in the Needles Area on the Hell Canyon Ranger District, Black Hills National Forest, Custer and Pennington Counties in the states of South Dakota and Wyoming. The proposed project consists of archaelological services to complete a Level III Heritage Resource Inventory, Monitoring and Evaluation of all heritage resources within fifty-eight (58) proposed treatment units and 117 miles of temporary, reconstructed system roads and skid trails within the Needles Analysis Area. A Level III inventory requires walking field transects that are no greater than 30 meters apart for completion of survey and archaeological site inventory. The Needles Area comprises, in total, an approximate 1700 acres within the Hell Canyon (formerly Custer/Elk Mountain) Ranger District, located in the sourthwestern portion of the Black Hills National Forest in southwestern South Dakota, specifically the counties of Custer and Pennington. A specifications package addresses the following subjects: 1) standards for the comprehensive literature search, inventory and archaeological site monitoring and analysis, including evaluation of site eligibility for inclusion in the National Register for Historic Places; 2) project deliverables; 3) project work schedule and deadlines. The proposed contract is 100% set-aside for small businesses. All responsible sources may submit an offer, which will be considered.
