Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with Ordela, Inc. of Oak Ridge, TN on a sole source basis under the authority of FAR Part 13.106-1(b) (Soliciting from a single source), for the purchase of an Ordela brand two dimensional position sensitive proportional counter (Model 2258N) with a dual parameter analyzer and a PSPC position decoder. The Ordela Model 2258N position-sensitive neutron detector sought in this procurement is to be used in tandem with an existing Model 2258N detector on a cold neutron spectrometer at NIST's Center for Neutron Research (NCNR). Ordela, Inc is the sole provider of two-dimensional, large area, position-sensitive neutron counters that are interchangeable with our existing Model 2258N. These two detectors must be used together and be controlled with the same computer software that has been developed at NIST for the visualization and analysis of neutron data recorded with this detector. The anticipated delivery time for this requirement is 270 days after receipt of order and the delivery shall be FOB Destination to Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Government anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price purchase order. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes by August 15, 2001. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available. The NAICS code for this requirement is 334519 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
