Description
This synopsis is issued for informational and planning purposes only. The Air Mobility Command (AMC) is conducting market research to identify potential contractors with the knowledge and experience along with an existing Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) product to reconstruct or replace AMC's current flight planning system located at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. Any flight planning system will reside in and function as a part of a defined USAF (United States Air Force) central command and control environment. The system must also operate on a USAF Local Area Network (LAN) and be networked behind a USAF firewall. It must support multiple users planning approximately 1000 wind-optimized flight plans per day and possibly 300 in a given hour involving a wide array of aircraft types and performance data. The missions could be of a wide variety including military needs that are different from the commercial world (in-flight refueling and air drops for instance). USAF flight-planning systems are required to use weather data from the Air Force Weather Agency (AFWA) that is delivered in ASCII Text Files via File Transfer Protocol (FTP). If your company has an existing commercial flight planning system product please contact the point of contact below for a list of questions intended to determine the adaptability of your product to the Air Force's baseline architecture. Also, please submit a company executive overview, a description of your product development methodology, an overview of your company's recent projects, and any other information or documentation that you feel would present your company in its best light. Request that your response be provided no later than 28 August 2001 and that all data be submitted electronically to the point of contact specified below. This request for information is not a commercial solicitation and the Government will not pay for any information submitted or for any costs associated with providing this information. =20
