- Description
- The U.S. Postal Service requires a contractor to provide pre-payment freight invoice examination in support of its freight transportation program. Government Bills of Lading are utilized to obtain transportation services. Carriers will prepare and submit invoices (electronically & hard copy) to the Postal Service via the contractor to obtain payment. The examiner must review the invoices for correctness. Shipment information data will be submitted to the examiner and carrier electronically following American National Standards Institute (ANSI) X12 204 transaction set. USPS is migrating to transportation invoices transmitted via Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) as ANSI X12 210 (EDI 210). Approx. 79,895 GBLs were generated in fiscal year 2000; fiscal 2001 projection is for 100,000 transactions (GBLs). The examinor/contractor will receive all hard copy and electronic freight invoices for USPS freight shipments. Freight invoices will be checked for completeness, charges examined for applicability and accuracy, hard copy date will be key entered so that is is avilable in electronic format for the payment file and management information file, and data transferred in a specified format to the USPS Accounts Payable office. Electronic invoices will involve ANSI X12 997 (EDI 997), EDI 204, EDI 210. The information technology systems used in conjunction with this contract must be upgraded for Electronic & Information Technology Accessibility, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (29 USC 794d). Solicitation packages are limited and available on a first come first served basis.
