The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism intends to negotiate a one year contract modification with the Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies, University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Campus Box 7090, Chapel Hill, NC 27599-7090, to continue work on a project entitled "Alcohol-Related Birth Defects Science Curriculum for Middle Schools and High Schools." The proposed modification will allow for completion of a developed, modular curriculum supplement which will be used to educate middle- and high-school students about alcohol-related birth defects. Authority: 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1. The Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies is the only responsible source possessing the critical knowledge and experience in the pathogenesis and mechanisms underlying birth defects with emphasis on maternal alcohol consumption, along with science education outreach to local middle- and high-schools. The modification is integral to the work they are currently performing on this project. Inquiries must be made in writing. Telephone inquiries are unacceptable. See Numbered Note 26.
