Description
AK PFH 42-1(6) CONTROL LAKE-THORNE BAY, SANDY BEACH; AK PFH 42-1(5) & 43-1(6) NORTH PRINCE OF WALES-THORNE BAY ROAD; Tongass National Forest; Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. Initial notice posted to Commerce Business Daily CBDNet on July 18, 2001 and printed issue date of July 20, 2001. BY ISSUE OF THIS MODIFICATION WE ANNOUNCE THIS SOLICITATION AS FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION ON AN UNRESTRICTED BASIS. Presolicitation notices are being sent to firms on this agency's mailing list concurrently with the publication of this synopsis. This work consists of 51.691 km of reconditioning, grading, base, and paving. The project consists of construction survey & staking; contractor sampling & testing; construction schedules; blasting consultant; monuments & markers; 12,000 m soil erosion control devices; 12,000 cu m watering for dust control; 4 ha clearing & grubbing; 23,000 cu m excavation & embankment; 2,400 m rock blasting, controlled blast hole; 2,600 sq m earthwork geotextiles; 500 cu m riprap; 230 sq m rockery wall; 130,000 t crushed aggregate; 50,000 sq m recycled aggregate course (in-place asphalt & cement additive); 40 km road reconditioning; 85,000 t hot asphalt concrete pavement; 450 m steel bridge railing replacement; 300 m culverts; 6 ea catch basins; 40 m underdrain; 40 m riprap drains; 1,040 m curb & gutter; 6 ea fire hydrant relocation & manhole adjustment; 920 sq m sidewalk, 500 m guardrail; 330 slurry units seeding & mulching; 80 sq m permanent traffic control devices; 220,000 m permanent pavement markings; 7,500 flagger hrs; 1,200 pilot car hrs; and other smaller items of work. The project is located approximately 25 km North of Craig, Alaska. Work shall be completed by September 2003. Estimated price range is over $10,000,000. The following applies only to Minority, Women-Owned, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs): The Department of Transportation (DOT), offers working capital financing and bonding assistance for transportation-related contracts. DOT's Bonding Assistance Program (BAP) offers bid, performance, and payment bonds on contracts up to $1,000,000. DOT's Short-Term Lending Program (STLP) offers lines of credit to finance accounts receivable. Maximum line of credit is $500,000 with interest at prime rate.
