Description
The National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Child Health & Human Development intends to negotiate with Carl Zeiss, Inc., 1 Zeiss Drive, Thornwood, NY 10594 to furnish and install an LSM 510 confocal microscope and accessories meeting the following salient characteristics: (1) Shall be compatible with existing Government-owned fully motorized Zeiss Axiovert 200 microscope. The existing miroscope includes a side port adaptation for the confocor scan head and bottom port coupling for adaptation of the new 510 scan head. (2) Shall include a four channel detector system including 24 bit R,G,B acquisition and display of up to 2048 x 2048 x 12 bit pixel resolution images. (3) Shall include three standard Photomultiplier tubes (PMT) each equipped with thier own pinhole. (4) Shall include one transmitted light detector. (5) Shall include a 32 PMT array spectral scan detection system. This shall replace existing detector #1. Light from the sample shall be dispersed spectrally across all 32 PMT's to collect an image. With a range from 350nm to 800nm each PMT capture a 10 to 12nm band of light. (6) Shall include dual Galvano driven scan mirrors which allow for complete rotation of the scan to 360 degrees, and displacement of the scan within the field of view and electronic zoom to 8000 times the objective magnification. (7) Shall be capable of line scanning at .3 millisecond or 2600 lines per second. (8) Shall include a Siemens midsize tower computer with 2 each 12 inch monitors. (9) Shall include a 45 milliwatt (mw) Argon ion laser for excitation at 458,477, 514nm, dual HENE lasers for excitation lines at 543-1mw and 633-5mw. Shall provide a daptation for 413 nm UV laser. (10) Shall include filters for: FITC, BODIPY, all forms of TRITC, Hoechst, DAPI, Texas Red, Cy3, Cy5, DII, DIO, DIA, Lucifer Yellow, and other fluorochromes which cover similar excitation and emission spectra. Filters appropriate for BFP, CFP, YFP, GFP, and RFP shall be included. (11) Shall include an Acousto Optical Tunable filter for line selection. (12) Shall include beam blanking and precise laser control for exposure only within selected ROI's. (13) Shall be Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FSC) compatible. All high precision software and hardware shall be included to accurately scan images with the laser scanning microscope module. The required equipment is proprietary and commercial as defined in FAR Part 2. Carl Zeiss, Inc. is the only known source capable of providing the required equipment. This contract acction is under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1 and HHSAR 306.302-1. Only one responsible source andno other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals owever all responses received within 10 days after publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
