Description

Services to transport shipments containing radioactive material and dangerous waster from Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNSP, Bremerton, WA to the Port of Benton, near Richland, WA, on the Columbia River. Each shipment shall consist of one barge with deck mounted cargo of a single package containing radioactive material, lead and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB's_. A typical cylinderical submarine package may weigh between 1000 and 1680 short tons, and range between 38-45 feet long, 33 feet in diameter, and 38-45 feet in diameter. A typical cruiser package may weigh between 1500 and 1600 short tons, and be 39 feet tall and 39 feet wide. Shipments will typically occur between 01 March and 31 October of each contract year. The contractor shall standby at the Port of Benson with two river tugs to provide positioning assistance as necessary. After the package is off-loaded, the contractor shall deliver the barge back to PSNS. Complete specifications will be included with the solicitation package. Services are required for a one-year period of performance with four one-year option periods. This is an unrestricted solicitation. Notes 9,12, and 26 apply. FOB Destination.
