BUDGET POLICY AND TREASURY ADVISORS The U.S. Department of the Treasury is competitively recruiting individuals to serve as long-and short-term budget policy, treasury and macroeconomic advisors to governmental officials of transitional and emerging economies. Resident and short-term assignments may be made worldwide, but most will occur in Central and Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union and Southeastern Europe.For budget development, Advisors may assist in the creation of laws and regulations, improved budget classification schemes, incorporating better forecasting methodologies into the budget process, and assistance in implementing new procedures and budget presentations.For budget execution, Advisors may assist in establishing/strengthening treasury functions, including developing new expenditure regulations, charts of accounts and other coding structures, and cash management systems. advisors may also assist in the structuring of a governmental accounting system.Economists may assist in formulating macroeconomic analytical structures and policies, including upgrading economic models, the ability of governments to sustain international commitments, and the quality of data feeding economic models.This recruitment is for assignment globally, with the following specific opportunity available immediately:Kiev, Ukraine: Treasury advisor to the Ukrainian Treasury with an emphasis on accounting liabilities, Treasury servicing of local budgets, and cash management.Qualifications: A background in government budget or treasury processes at the Federal or State level is desirable.Applicants should be self-starters.Prior overseas work experience and language skills would be distinct advantages.A Master?s degree in public finance or related field is preferred.Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. resident aliens.Salaries and Benefits: Salaries will be negotiated in accordance with program regulations based on demonstrated salary history, but will not exceed $125,700.Successful applications will be subject to a background investigation at the appropriate level.This announcement is open and continuous until December 31, 2001 or until filled.To apply, please send cover letter, resume and OF 612 to:U.S. Department of the Treasury Office of Technical Assistance Attn: Recruitment Coordinator1730 K Street, NW (Suite 204) Washington, DC 20006.Please reference Solicitation Number IET-2001-00-19 on your resume and OF-612.Only applicants to be interviewed will be contacted.For application materials, visit our web site at http://www.treas.gov/iet/forms.html http://www.treas.gov/iet/forms.html or http://www.eps.gov (click on FBO for vendors to Departmental Offices to IET-2001-0019).
