Description

The Maritime Administration intends to award a sole source purchase order to Martin Associates for the purchase of a r eport entitled ?Challenges and Opportunities for the U.S. Marine Transportation System.? This unique report outlines critic al areas of the Nation?s Marine Transportation System which must be addressed by all public and private stakeholders to ensu re that the system will be able to handle the forecasted doubling of international trade through U.S. ports and other facili ties by the year 2020. The report conducts an analysis and reviews of the importance of the Port Sector to the economy as a well as conducts an ana lysis of tonnage data by commodity grouping, coast range, and ports. It also provides quantification of the importance of t he maritime sector to the U.S. economy, including translation of dollar value of exports into direct, indirect, and induced impacts. In addition it provides a summary and review of existing economic impact studies of the cruise industry, ferry pas senger, industry, commercial fishing fleet, recreational boating industry and the inland waterways. All firms who posses th e knowledge and are capable of performing the described work are encouraged to submit capabilities statements and price quot ations at the designated address by close of business August 10, 2001. This purchase order will be awarded to the firm who represents the best value to the government.
