Description
The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Admin (NOAA) has a requirement for a laser for ultraviolet ozone lidar to meet the following specifications. 1) Flashlamp pumped Nd:YAG laser with doubling optics to produce 420 mJ at 1064 nanometers, 160 mJ at 532 nanometers, option for 50 mJ or 100 mJ at 355 nanometers, 2) Rep rate 20 hertz programmable Q-switch for variable rep rate from 1 to 20 hertz with single shot option, 3) Pulse width 4-6 ns at 355 nm, 4) Divergence of .6 mRad or less, 5) Beam point stability of 100 micro-radians or less, 6)Energy stability for 99.9% of shots: 2.5% at 1064 nm, 3.5% at 532 nm, and 4% at 355 nm, 7)Beam spatial profile: near field 0.70 fit to Gaussian, Far Field 0.95 fit to Gaussian, 8) Power Requirements 208V singe phase, not to exceed 10 Amps, 9) System must use diffused pump chamber for high efficiency pumping, reduced maintenance, and optimum beam quality, 10) Single flashlamp head with minimum lamp life of 30 million shots or more without the use of feedback circuits that increase the pump power to maintain pulse energy, 11) System charging, firing and q-switching must have RS-232 interface control option, 12) Oscillator cavity must be a floating 3-bar graphite design for long term alignment stability, 13) Optical head dimensions must not exceed 31"L x 7"W x 7"H, 14) Laser head must be kinematically mounted for easy removal of head for quick flashlamp change and inspection of head. Head must be replaced with no realignment necessary and 15) Self contained heat exchanger cooling system (no external chiller); 16) ST Second harmonic (type 1) and third harmonic generator. It is the intent of the Government to award this procurement on a sole source basis under authority of 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) with Continuum Electro-Optics, Inc. of Santa Clara, Ca. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100,000). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. These are the complete specifications and no RFQ is available. All technical questions shall be addressed to Alan Brewer of NOAA at 303 497-7859 or Rich Marchbanks at 303 497-7755.
