- Description
- THIS NOTICE CONSTITUTES AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE COMBINED SYNOPSIS/RFQ FOR HYDRAULIC PUMP. Companies shall acknowledge all amendment(s) in their quote. This notice serves as the official amendment to subject synopsis/RFQ and a written amendment will not be issued. The purpose of this amendment is to release the following questions and answers and to schedule an on-site visit for interested contractors. Contractors are required to submit the name of their company, name of individual(s)planning to visit and their citizenship via e-mail or fax no later than 4:30 p.m. 7/31/01. The date for interested individuals to meet for an on-site visit will be August 1, 2001, NASA Langley Research Center, Bldg. 1195A,Room 215 @ 10:00 a.m. Question 1: The filter and cooling loop specifications call for a "main pressure line filter for servo valve 10 to 15 microns" and a Kidney loop filter 3 microns". Generally the 3 micron filtration would be used for the servo valve supply with coarser filtration for the rest of the system. Please verify that this is correct according to the specifications. Answer: The filtration specifications are correct as written. The filtration on the main pressure line was held to 10-15 microns to improve dynamic response to high frequency transient volumetric loads. Additionally it was felt that filtering to 3 microns at high line pressure was ambiguous, large particles can be extruded through a small filter at high line pressure. The 3 micron kidney filter loop operates at about 100 psi and operates independently of the main pressure line. Its purpose is to constantly filter and cool the hydraulic reservoir and assure that the fluid entering the pump is well below the 10-15 micron level. Question 2: We need installation drawings and layout of the present system. Answer: We are replacing a very old hydraulic system and are not aware of any system drawings existing at this time, so the request for system drawings cannot be fulfilled. In regards to delivery of a HPU to specification to NASA site, the only additional dimensional information needed is the footprint available for it to occupy. Theh space available is nominally 6 feet wide by 8 feet long by 6 feet high, total consumption of this space is acceptable but less than ideal. The hydraulic and cooling water lines are at the right end (6 feet side) of the footprint adjacent to and not impinging upon the stated footprint. The due date for receipt of offers is extended to 8/6/01. Companies shall provide the information stated in the synopsis/RFQ posted on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) on August 6, 2001. Documents related to this procurement are available over the Internet and are in Microsoft Office 97 format and reside on the World Wide Web (WWW) server which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
