Description
This RFI is issued to solicit input from firms regarding a potential need for disaster recovery and disaster planning services (DRS/DRP), also known as business continuity and recovery services. The Department of Veterans Affairs is investigating the feasibility of issuing a multiple award indefinite delivery indefinite quantity contract for DRS/DRP. This contract would be used to provide disaster recovery and planning services to VA as well as to other federal agencies under the authority of the Government Management Reform Act of 1994. Only firms that currently have the capability to provide comprehensive disaster recovery and disaster planning services are invited to respond to this RFI. The term "comprehensive" as it is used here means that the services offered cover all aspects of business continuity planning and recovery. This includes the possession of business recovery centers (e.g., "Hot Sites and Cold Sites") with the capability and capacity to service federal customers of all sizes. Responses should include a summary of your firm's technical and management capabilities. This summary should contain: 1. A description of company resources, including enough detail to demonstrate your firm's ability to develop actionable disaster recovery plans and to provide disaster recovery services to any size customer; 2. A list of federal customers for which your firm currently provides disaster recovery services; and 3. A brief description of your firm's largest (measured by dollar-value of the contract) current federal DRS contract. This RFI is not a Request for Proposal, and nothing shall be construed herein or through the RFI process to commit or obligate the Government to further action as a result of this RFI. In addition, firms responding to this RFI shall bear all risk and expense of any resources used to provide the requested information. The information collected through this process is considered to be market research as described by FAR 2.101. Responses to this RFI should be provided by August 22, 2001 and shall be addressed to the Contracting Officer, Greg Hamberg, at greg.hamberg@mail.va.gov, or fax: (512) 326-6028. Telephonic inquiries will not be accepted.
