Description

Phased renovation of former Army Reception Center into a U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Warfare Center. The work generally includes life safety upgrade, including modification of the fire alarm and fire protection system and extension of the system to areas not previously covered by the system. The work also includes architectural modifications to change the function of various spaces and the associated structural, mechanical and electrical modifications. Major efforts will be the conversion of the chapel into a state-of-the-art auditorium/conference facility with video teleconference capabilities and the removal of some interior steel columns. Exterior work includes modification of the rear warehouse service entrance into a main pedestrian entrance and addition of an irrigation system, new water main, paving and landscaping. Project includes asbestos abatement and removal of lead panels. This project also includes 3 options which will be evaluated at the time of award. Option 1 Landscaping Irrigation System. Option 2. Landscaping and Option 3 Exterior Electrical. Solicitation documents will be furnished on CD-ROM on or about 17 August 2001; hard copies will not be available. Contractors may view and/or download this solicitation and all amendments from the Internet at the following address: https://ebs.nap.usace.army.mil on or after issue date of the solicitation; however, the official media of distribution for this solicitation is the "CD-ROM". One copy of the CD-ROM will be furnished to each bidder at no charge. Requests for a CD-ROM must be made by registering on the Internet. No written or fax requests shall be accepted. If any information changes during the advertisement period, contractors are responsible to make changes to their user profile on the Internet. Failure to make changes in their user profile may cause a delay in receiving the solicitation and amendments. Bidders are responsible for printing paper copies of the solicitation. Bids will be opened on or about 18 September 2001 at 11:00 a.m. Completion time for this project is 420 calendar days. This procurement is unrestricted. The NAICS Code is 23499 with a size standard of $11.5 million dollars. The estimated range of the project is 5 million to 10 million dollars and bonding is required. Affirmative action to insure equal employment opportunity is applicable to the resulting contract. Liquidated damages will be specified. Award will be made as a whole to one bidder.
