Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology intends to procure on a firm fixed price sole source basis with the University of Maryland, College Park, MD for technical support in conducting experimental work in the area of phase equilibria of high-temperature superconductors and crystal chemistry studies of complex dielectric microwave oxide systems, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) Only One Source Reasonably Available. The contractor will perform tasks associated with high-temperature synthesis including quantitative weighing and mixing of reactants, operation of high-temperature furnaces, crystal growth, and phase identification by x-ray diffraction. The Research Assistant designated by the University to perform the work has undergone specific training in high-temperature materials processing and phase equilibria to enable immediate project start-up with no training required beforehand. This work is an continuation of an effort already begun by the Contractor. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competition. However, the Government will consider all responses received by the closing date. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill the requirement. A solicitation is not available.=20
