Description

The USDA, Agricultural Research Service, Foreign Disease-Weed Science Research Unit (FDWSRU) located at Fort Detrick, Maryland requires basic Janitorial Services for laboratory and administrative office cleaning, rest room cleaning and stocking, and trash removal. The period of performance for this performance based service contract will be from October 1, 2001 through September 30, 2002 (base period), and four (4) renewable 1-year options. The location has approximately 30 federal employees, is comprised of two laboratory and office buildings with attached greenhouses: buildings 1301 and 374. The location has an approximate total of 28,100 square feet of laboratories, storage rooms and closets, conference room, library, lunchroom, restrooms (7) and office space. Bldg.374 is a BL3 biological containment (hot) facility for all types of plant pathogens and represents the highest level of biosafety for plant disease research, which are not harmful to humans. A BL3 facility requires collection and sterilization of all waste water, sterilization procedures for tools, instruments, and supplies to be removed from containment, and exit showers for personnel. The Contractor shall be required to sign a Pre-Entry Agreement whereby they agree to avoid contact with susceptible plants as designated by the Safety Officer. The Contractor shall be required to shower out of the BL3 facility, which will take approximately hour. Non-standard services includes semi-annual (exterior/interior) Window Washing; Quarterly stripping and resealing Bathroom Tile and Floors; Annually stripping and resealing all vinyl tile floors. Work hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, excluding weekends and Federal holidays. This is a total small business set-aside. The NAICS is 561720 with a small business size of 12 million. Specifications are contained in Solicitation No. 19-3615-01 which will be available on or about August 7, 2001.
