Description

The Army Research laboratory (ARL) intends to solicit on a sole source basis to Bio-Imaging Research (BIR), Inc. for a Microfocus X-ray Unit upgrade with mounting bracket and system specific application software for computed tomography system with the following capabilities: (a) microfocus x-ray system, consisting of x-ray control unit, vacuum unit, x-ray tube, and high voltage generator, capable of 225 kV maximum voltage and 320 watt power dissipation. (b) minimum focal spot size <4 x 7 micrometers. (c) mounting bracket for attachment to existing BIR ACTIS 420/600 computed tomography scanner. (d) system specific ACTIS software for automatic serial control of microfocus x-ray system. (e) latest ACTIS revision of Multi-Slice Volume Computed Tomography software. (f) on-site installation, integration with existing scanner, x-ray system testing, and training. Bio-Imaging Research is the OEM of the existing x-ray computed tomography scanner: the scanner was custom built for ARL three years ago by Bio-Imaging, the scanner is computer controlled and is run by proprietary Bio-Imaging software. Bio-Imaging is the only vendor with the expertise and capability to successfully install, integrate, and test the Microfocus X-ray Unit Upgrade into the existing scanner.
