Description

Fire Alarm System modifications, expansion, and new protected premises throughout the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, Tucson, Arizona. Specialty contractor (integrated technology systems) to provide a final design from preliminary design drawings and mandatory specifications and to install fire alarm system modifications, expansions, and new protected premises systems throughout the Tucson campus. These protected premises systems will communicate through a fiber optic proprietor network, which uses the protocol in existing Notifier equipment, that will remain in place. In some cases, new devices and appliances will replace existing and connect to existing control panels. In some cases, the existing network will be reconfigured with entirely new protected premises systems. In some cases, additions and enhancements will be made in order to comply with NFPA 72 or to accommodate owner preferences. All systems are designed with intelligent technology. All conventional initiating devices will be replaced, subject to budget limitations. The designers and field supervisors must meet minimum qualification requirements as specified. There will be four alternate prices (all work shown and three levels with some work removed). Award will be based on both price and evaluation of qualifications of the contractor and key personnel, as well as acceptability/compatibility of proposed major equipment and record of successful completion of similar projects. The project is estimated between $250,000 and 500,000. Performance period is 425 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed. The Request for Proposal will be issued on or about August 9, 2001. All responsible offerors may submit a bid which will be considered by the agency. The NAICS code for this procurement is 235310 and the annual size standard is $11.5 Million. A Bid Guarantee is required.
