Description

THIS SOLICITATION IS A BEST VALUE COMPETITIVE 8(A) PROCUREMENT RESTRICTED TO 8(a) FIRMS WHO ARE REGISTERED WITH THE SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION IN REGION VI (TX, NM, LA, OK, AR). This project consists of two three-story dormitories, Type II construction, fully sprinkled, with options for additional rooms as bid items. Framing is load bearing CMU walls, precast concrete beams and columns supporting precast hollow core planks. The central activity area will have a mix of framing systems including structural steel posts and beam, load bearing masonry, load bearing steel studs, light gauge steel rafters, open web steel joists and poured-in-place concrete floor system. Includes all site improvements, parking and utilities. The Base Bid plus all options is estimated to be approximately $12,294,000.00. Solicitation will issue on or about 03 August 2001. Proposals will be due on or about 05 September 2001 at 4:00 p.m., central time. Duration of the construction project will be approximately 420 days for the Base Bid. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) Code applicable to this project is 233220, Multifamily Housing Construction, which corresponds to SIC Code 1522. The plans and specifications have been placed on a Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge on the issue date. Plans and specifications will not be provided in a paper hard copy format. Notification of amendments shall be made through 3.5" diskette, CD ROM and/or the Internet. However, the Government reserves the right to use only the Internet as notification of any changes to this solicitation. It is therefore the contractor's responsibility to check the following address daily for any posted changes to this solicitation. Contractors may view and/or download this solicitation and all amendments from the Internet after solicitation issuance at the following Internet address: http://ebs.swf.usace.army.mil. Bidders shall register themselves on the Internet to receive a copy of this solicitation (CD-ROM). If you are a sub-contractor or a supplier, you are not required to be registered as an 8(a) firm with the Small Business Administration to place a bid on this solicitation. The Corps of Engineers accepts bids from Prime Contractors only. Subcontractors and suppliers can view/print a copy of the plan holder's list at http://ebs.swf.usace.army.mil to find prime contractors to submit their bids to. Subcontractors and suppliers can also register to receive a copy the CD ROM and be placed on the plan holder's list as at the same web address.
