Description

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: This project consists of a single building, having a total area of 1360 sm. The building includes two maintenance bays to accommodate locomotives and/or railcars; tool and parts storage; an office; break room; toilets, compressor room; and electrical room. The building consists of a pre-engineered structural steel frame and metal wall panels and standing seam metal roof. The roof system is 24 gauge standing seam metal, complete with metal flashing, gutter and downspouts. The exterior metal wall panels will be 22 gauge metal panel concealed fastener siding, full height, with rigid insulation. Interior walls separating the maintenance area from individual room will be painted CMU. Interior partitions between rooms will be 16mm gypsum wallboard on 25 gauge steel studs, placed 400mm o.c. Floors in the maintenance area, shop, mechanical/electrical rooms and tool storage are reinforced concrete slab on grade. Floors in the office and break room are VCT with vinyl base; and in the men' and women's toilets, unglazed ceramic tile. All personnel door frames will be painted hollow metal steel frames. Doors shall be hollow metal with mineral core. Hardware to be provide as required. The building also contains three overhead metal doors. This project includes new and replaced rail line, a rail switch, a bumper at the end of the new track, overhead locomotive exhausts and a maintenance pit along with electrical, water and lubricant outlets conveniently located throughout the maintenance area. There is a ten (10) ton bridge crane and a two-an a half (2.5) ton jib crane within the building that are part of the project. All portions of the building are to be heated and ventilated; however, only the office space will be air-conditioned. Drainage improvements will include a new culvert near the building. Water, sewer, electrical and communications utilities are to be provided as part of this project. Network Analysis System will be required. Estimated cost range of project is from $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. THIS SOLICITATION IS RESTRICTED TO 8(a) NATIONWIDE CONCERNS $27,500,000 AS DEFINED BY THE SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION. This solicitation will be available on or about 07/30/01.
