- Description
- The Government intends to negotiate with Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, to extend the current contract N01-HG-65403 until February 28, 2002. The extension will allow for an increase in the number of genotypes being performed per week from approximately 100,000 to 229,167 per week. There are a number of very large projects including genotyping to find genes contributing to schizophrenia, type II diabetes, and melanoma, which the Government has already committed to perform by the end of the contract. Disruption of the ongoing genotyping would jeopardize the research effort and might result in the loss of useful data since it has already been determined that genotyping results done on different machines is not comparable and cannot be fused. It is the Government's estimate that the increase in genotyping will require approximately 41,000 direct labor hours. This extension will not have an impact on the current contract amount. All inquiries regarding this action should be submitted by no later than 4:00 p.m.on September 4, 2001.
