- CBD Synopsis SUBJECT: Exhibitions Maintenance SOL: CL-02-0001 DUE: August 23, 2001 POC: Lori Mankowitz 202/314-0356 DESC: The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM), Washington, DC, collection items are exhibited in an open-case design. Consequently, soils from the Museum's air handling system and visitors and employees' clothing, shoes, and hair accumulate and are deposited in the exhibition furnishings, supports, and the collection items. Due to the invaluable and historic nature of the objects on exhibition, cleaning techniques and materials are highly specialized. The exhibitions, presented on five floors of the museum building, are complex and difficult to clean and maintain. The task is made more difficult by the requirement that no chemicals are in proximity to the collection items at any time during the cleaning process. The USHMM maintains a specific prescribed level of cleanliness for the well being and preservation of Collection items on exhibition. As such, the USHMM seeks proposals for Exhibitions Maintenance services.
