NOTE: THIS IS NOT A CONTRACTING INITIATIVE! PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE WASHINGTON DC CONTRACTING OFFICE OR ANY CONTRACTING REPRESENTATIVES! The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) plans to undertake cooperative research in the area of manufactured housing. This research will be targeted at improving manufactured housing by identifying strategies, processes, or materials which will make housing more efficient to build and, as a result, more affordable. Areas of particular interest include developing a technology roadmap for the industry to address the goals of the partnership for Advancing Technoloogy in Housing (PATH), examining foundations, alternative materials, moisture, and energy efficiency. To date, we have received unsolicited proposals from the Manufactured Housing Research Alliance. This notice hereby announces HUD's interest in receiving other proposals for cooperative research from the manufactured housing community on research proposals which will satisfy one or more of the targeted areas discussed above. Proposals must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. EST, on August 7, 2001, to be accepted for review and to permit timely consideration. ALL PROPOSALS SHOULD BE FORWARDED TO PATRICK TEWEY, DIRECTOR, BUDGET, CONTRACTS,AND PROGRAM CONTROL DIVISION, OFFICE OF POLICY DEVELOPMENT AND RESEARCH, ROOM 8230, U.S. DEPT. OF HUD, 451 SEVENTH STREET, SW, WASHINGTON, DC 20410. HUD is interested in the conduct of cooperative research on issues facing the manufactured housing industry. Proposers should ensure that they possess the ability to represent a broad spectrum of manufacturers and can access major manufacturers for information or participation in funded research projects. Because these efforts will be cooperatively funded, a MINIMUM MATCH OF 40% IS REQUIRED for any proposed project. HUD may include related unsolicited proposals which have not been previously funded for full consideration under this effort.
