Description
The purpose of this notice is to post questions and answers that resulted from the site survey on 11 Jul 2001. 1. QUESTION: There is no OC-48 node in the basement. Is a node going to be installed in the basement? If so, is installation of that node part of the scope of work? Answer: Both nodes are presently located on the computer floor. Third in the central office. 2. QUESTION: If there is not going to be another OC-48 node in the basement can we assume that either OC-3 or DS3's will be extended off the computer room OC-48 node to the basement? If so, which one and how many and is extending these services to the basement part of the scope of work? Answer: Fiber is already extended to the basement and terminates in the fiber distribution shelf in place. The nodes have the capability of breaking out OC3. Yes it is part of the scope of work. 3. QUESTION: The specification requires a device that will accept either OC-3 or DS3. While there are a number of devices on the market that will do this configuring one to accept either will be more expensive than configuring one that will use one or the other. Can you further define the requirement to either an OC-3 or DS3 input? Answer: I suggest using OC3 to feed the SLC2000 and demux down from there. The SLC should be able to provide 360 DSO with shelving for a max of 500 DSO. 4. QUESTION: How many DS1 lines do you want to break out? Answer: You need capability for all existing T1 lines plus, I don't know how many there are now. There are 4 T1 demarc shelves of 12 ea. There should be capability to break out a minimum of 36 T1 lines. This would allow for expansion during a real COOP. 5. QUESTION: What kind of telephones are currently in use in your facility? Answer: Analog 6. QUESTION: The scope states that engineering drawings are available. Can I get a copy of the computer room and basement drawings? Any format would be acceptable. Answer: I do not have any engineering drawings for the SONET. I do have the BellSouth drawings for the fiber cable run on premise. In addition the electronic bids due for this requirement are extended from 18 July 2001 to 23 July 2001, 2:00 pm Central Daylight Savings Time. DITCO POC is Lora T. Benhoff, 618-229-9499, benhof1l@scott.disa.mil. The complete solicitation for this requirement can be found in the Commerce Business Daily submission no. 50Q5M2 dated 29 Jun 2001.
