- Description
- AFIADL EMS MODULE -- MARKET SURVEY AND TRADE STUDY SOL 4THG57013125 DUE 091401 Sverdrup Technology, Inc., is conducting a market survey in conjunction with task order TO401DE0445 awarded by the General Services Administration, Huntsville, AL. This announcement is a request for information synopsis to support a market survey and trade study. Information contained in this synopsis is for planning purposes only. It does not constitute an invitation for sealed bid or request for proposal (RFP), nor is it to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government is currently conducting a market survey and trade study of middleware software infrastructure solutions that can meet the requirements for prototyping the Air Force Institute of Advanced Distributed Learning (AFIADL) component of the Air University (AU) Education Management System (EMS) program. The infrastructure must be based on the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) standard, and other integration and component technologies used must also be recognized industry standards (e.g., COM, JavaBeans, UML, XML). The infrastructure must be able to seamlessly integrate the existing prototype AFIADL Meridian Knowledge Center learning management system (LMS), the AFIADL Course Development Student Administration/Registrar (CDSAR) legacy system, and the AU Information Mall (a database containing all registrar information for AU schools). Infrastructure solutions will also be evaluated against the requirements of the EMS. The EMS infrastructure must support the seamless integration of any number of distributed objects and components that include commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software, government off-the-shelf (GOTS) software, legacy software systems, legacy databases, and external software systems (using local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), or World Wide Web (WWW) based communication). A questionnaire soliciting information about specific software infrastructure product capabilities will be provided for interested vendors to complete. Answers to the questionnaire will be analyzed and used to identify what software product(s) may be the most appropriate to use for the AFIADL EMS module prototype. Responsiveness to the questions in this questionnaire will be very important in potential product selection. For more information about AFIADL, please visit the web site at http://www.maxwell.af.mil/au/afiadl. No paper copies of information in this CBD announcement will be provided. Businesses that are currently offering the same or similar services are requested to respond by 31 August 2001. Contact: POC: Kathy Mark, (937) 878-3303, e-mail KEMark@aol.com. Potential vendors may phone or e-mail the contact person, above, for questions, comments, or information on how to obtain the questionnaire described in this announcement.
