- Description
- The U.S. Dept. of Commerce/NOAA/NOS/National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science intends to participate in and be a co-sponsor of the Second International Nitrogen Conference Science and Policy (N2001), to be held October 14-18, 2001 at the Bolger Conference Center in Potomac, Maryland. The Ecological Society of America (ESA) is serving as the organizer of this conference with the focus on the cross media impacts of nitrogen on aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, as well as human health. Issues will be addressed at national, regional, and global scales. The three primary goals of the Second International Conference on Nitrogen are to: 1. Increase scientific knowledge about nitrogen sources and effects; 2. Stimulate communication among leaders in nitrogen production and consumption; 3. Explore balanced policy strategies by which to increase food and energy production while decreasing environmental impacts. The conference will provide a timely opportunity to update the scientific understanding of nitrogen in a policy context and will include a regional element, focusing on North America, Europe, and Asia. NOS/National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science support of this conference will help to ensure that impacts on the marine environment are given appropriate attention in the context of the many other dimensions of nitrogen pollution. This is a notice of intent with no solicitation package available. Award will be made using simplified acquisition procedures. (Reference No. 1-00018)
