- Description
- The Bureau is interested in obtaining, testing, and evaluating any technologies or materials with potential application as a counterfeit deterrent feature in U.S. currency. Any technologies or materials submitted for consideration will be evaluated for inherent and relative effectiveness as a security feature, compatibility with design and production factors, durability, environmental acceptability and processing requirements. Other appropriate representatives from the Treasury and/or Federal Reserve may also review any technologies or materials submitted to the Bureau. The Bureau may also submit offered technologies to other technical experts under government contracts for their evaluation. The Bureau is interested in reviewing all types of products, to address all types of counterfeiting (whether using traditional, digital or new technology) and for all types of usage (visual, visually-impaired, blind, vending and fare-card, machine sorting, etc.). All types of products are of interest, including but not limited to inks (intaglio, typographic and off-set) and ink additives, alternate and traditional substrates, substrate additives, design elements or techniques, diffractive or reflective materials, laminated or hot-stamped materials. Current versions of currency paper, currency and COPE inks, and security thread specifications are available upon request. For initial screening purposes, interested parties are requested to submit preliminary samples and/or brief technical descriptions (1-2 paragraphs) plus cost information for the purchase of larger test quantities to the BEP, Office of Procurement, Attn: Cindy Duncan, 14th and C Sts, S.W. Washington, D.C. 20228. Larger quantities of samples may be procured through simplified acquisition (small purchase) for further evaluation. Previously submitted materials or technologies need not resubmit. If you have any questions please contact Cindy Duncan on (202) 874-2539 or E-Mail cynthia.duncan@bep.treas.gov.!
