Description

The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) intends to issue RFP N00024-01-R-6246 to Kollmorgen Corporation, 347 King Street, Northhampton, MA 01060-2390 on a sole source basis for the production of one Virginia Class shipset of eight (8) UMM's, plus options for four (4) additional Virginia Class shipsets, (32 UMMs) and pending program approval two (2) SSGN Class shipsets (8 UMM's) with associated engineering services and spares. Kollmorgen possesses the requisite knowledge, capability and acceptable design to support a build to print reprocurement. Kollmorgen can complete this work in a timely and cost-efficient manner. No other source has the technical qualifications and the necessary resources to perform the work described herein, nor will any other supplies satisfy the Navy's requirements. The Industry Day and resulting responses to the RFI produced alternatives that did not demonstrate ability to meet all specifications.
