Description
The USDA, Agricultural Research Service in Albany, California has a requirement for one (1) UV-VIS-NIR dispersive spectrophotometer with a NIR detector with thermoelectrically cooled InGaAs photodiode, and with a UV-VIS detector photomultiplier tube (R928 or equivalent). The spectrophotometer must have a tungsten halogen visible source with quartz window and deuterium arc UV source. It must be centrally controlled with a PC and the appropriate software for absorption, reflection, and transmission measurements and capable of exporting the data to other software programs, such as spreadsheets. The unit shall cover a wide spectral region; the UV/VIS grating shall be greater than, or equal to 1200 lines/mm blazed at 250 nm, and the NIR grating shall be greater than, or equal to 300 lines/mm blazed at approx 1200 nm. The wavelength range must be greater than, or equal to 200 nm up to 2000 nm. The NIR wavelength accuracy must be 0.1 nm, or better. The UV-VIS limiting resolution shall be less than 0.3 nm and the NIR limiting resolution less than 0.12 nm. The stray light at approx 1420 nm (H20, 1 cm pathlength) must be less than 0.00003% transmission, and at 220 nm (10 g/L NaI ASTM method) less than 0.00004%. The photometric noise (absorbance (abs), RMS)(at 0.4 nm spectral bandwidth at 1500 nm, 1 sec averaging time and 6 abs units) must be 0.002 or less; at 0 abs units it must be 0.00002 or less, and at 3 abs units it should be 0.0001 or less. The typical photometric range (abs) must be at least 7.0 (with rear beam attenuation or equivalent). The spectrophotometer shall have a double beam, ratio recording, double out-of-plane Littrow monochromator, and a chopper beam splitting system.
