Description
The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) is seeking information from sources of non-developmental (NDI) or commercial waterproof outboard motors for potential future procurement. The motors will be used to power 7 and 15 person inflatable assault boats for the Army, often for missions requiring the reconnaissance team to land, sink their vessel and motor, retrieve these items and use them for regress from the landing site. The candidate motor will be capable of meeting specific Army requirements as follow: (1) fully submersible and operational before and after submersion to enable performance of missions requiring soldiers to sink and retrieve their boat and motor, (2) capable of being fully submersed for up to 18 hours at a depth of up to 66 feet of seawater, (3) capable of being restarted after submersion in less than 10 minutes and, (4) must be capable of being silenced during operation. The motor package should include all operating parts, including greater than one fuel tank/bladder, and instructions for use and repair and maintenance. Though not mandatory for consideration, it is desired that the candidate motor will not require the use of gasoline-tupe fuels. The following information is requested: (1) A full description of the motor to include principal characteristics, and type of fuel for operation, (2) Prints, cut sheets, or pictures showing the motor and its component parts, (3) identification of the Company name, point of contact, address, telephone, and e-mail address (if available). The response to this request may be submitted in any form or format, including the company's standard literature. Price data is desirable. Proprietary information submitted will be protected when so designated. The sources sought announcement is not to be construed as a commitment by TACOM to award a contract, nor is it a Request for Proposal. TACOM is not responsible for reimbursement of any costs connected with providing the requested information. Potential sources should send the requested information to the following: Commander, U.S. Army TACOM, ATTN: AMSTA-LC-CJEB, Mail Stop 231 (Toni Spalding), Warren, MI 48397-5000, or through e-mail to the Contract Specialist, within 28-days of the date of publication of this notice.
