Description

This project is comprised of the following work: Furnishing and constructing 4787 meters (15,702 lf) of trail, located on the Chugach National Forest near Anchorage, Alaska. The trail is comprised of asphalt, crushed aggregate, treated timber boardwalks and bridges, and/or geoweb/concrete surfacing in addition to construction of the trail sub-base. Fabrication and construction of 91 meters (299 lf) of elevated trail bridges, 338 meters (1109 lf) treated timber boardwalk, 3,134 meters (10,280 lf) of crushed gravel surfaced tread, 1078 meters (3536 lf) of asphalt pavement and 158 meters (518 lf) of geoweb/concrete pavement. Other work items include excavation, embankment, haul, clearing and grubbing, endhaul, sign & post installation, and trail revegetation. This project includes the supply of all equipment, materials and labor required to complete the entire project. Project trailheads are located at the Williwaw Campground, Explorer Pond and Moose Flats recreation area on FH 35 (Portage Glacier Highway), Access to the Portage Glacier Highway is from the Seward Highway at 127 km (Mile Post 79.5), 50 miles south of Anchorage, Alaska. The project site is located off of FH 35 (the Portage Glacier Highway) between 7.6 km (MP 4.7) and the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center, approximately 50 air miles southeast of Anchorage, Alaska. The project site is accessible by motor vehicle from the Seward Highway 127 km (MP 79.5) southeast of Anchorage, Alaska. The estimated start work date is October 2001. The contract time will be 365 calendar days. Estimated price range for the project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The solicitation except for the contract drawings and specifications will be posted to our web site (URL address shown below) for downloading by C.O.B. August 1, 2001. The contract specifications and drawings will need to be purchased from a third party at an estimated cost of $27 plus shipping for 11"x17" drawings and $9 plus shipping for specifications. All the information you will need to obtain the contract drawings from the third party will be posted to our web site when we issue the solicitation. It will be the responsibility of the bidder to check the web site for any amendments to the solicitation. In case we are unable to post an amendment to our web site please provide the contact information that is requested when you download the solicitation. ONLY contact our office to receive a hard copy of the solicitation if you DO NOT have access to the internet. All responsible sources may submit a bid that will be considered.
