Description

The Federal Highway Administration plans to award a purchase order to the University of Kentucky Transportation Center for the Development of Context Sensitive Design (CSD) Case Studies and the Development of Instructional Resources and Materials. CSD is a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach that involves all stakeholders to develop a transportation facility that fits its physical setting and preserves scenic, aesthetic, historic, and environmental resources, while maintaining safety and mobility. The University of Kentucky was one of the five pilot states for CSD and CSD training. Since this pilot, over 525 people have been trained via the CSD Workshop developed by the University of Kentucky Transportation Center team. This was a joint effort which included FHWA and State DOT representatives. There is no other known organization that has gained the extent of direct experience and knowledge base through actual workshop training development and implementation as the University of Kentucky Transportation Center. Because of this the University of Kentucky Transportation Center is the only known source that can perform this work. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is on or about July 25, 2001.=20
