Description
The National Cancer Institute intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, with Information Management Services, Inc., 12501 Prosperity Drive, Suite 200, Silver Spring, MD 20904, for a contract modification to procure additional labor hours and dollars required to sustain technical support of the Division of Cancer Epidemiology & Genetics (DCEG) activities through the current contract period of performance under contract number NO2-CP-81005, a term type contract. This procurement action is required to support an expanded demand for biomedical computing services due to a large increase in the Division's staff. A number of ongoing projects are at critical stages in their life cycle and, due to their complexity, would be difficult to stop in midstream. The uninterrupted ability of current contractor staff to complete work within the current contract period will minimize delays in completion of work and prevent excess costs of training a new contractor. This action is under the authority of 41 USC 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) and HHSAR 306.302. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within 45 days after publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract modification based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement (See numbered Note 22).=20
