Description
The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a requirement to replace the current dye laser. The replaced dye laser must be a narrower line width dye laser for certain key spectroscopic measurement of atmospheric gases. The dye laser will be pumped by an existing Continuum Neodymium: Yttrium-Aluminum-Garnet (Nd:YAG) laser with approximately 300 millijoule (mJ) per pulse at 532 nanometers (nm). The technical requirements are as follows: (1) the dye laser must have a line width less than 0.05 wavenumbers (cm to the minus one power) at 570 nm; (2) must have a tunable wavelength range from 540 to 860 nm; (3) beam divergence of the laser pulse from the dye laser must be smaller than 0.5 milliradians (mrad); (4) the dye laser must be able to handle pump energies above 500 mJ; (5) the asynchronous spontaneous emission (ASE) must be less than 0.2% of the total output at the center of the dye curve; (6) the frequency stability must be better than 0.1 cm to the minus one power per hour per one centigrade (degree C) temperature change; (7) the wavelength resettability must be better than 50 picometer (pm). The supplier must have a proven track record of providing reliable lasers and a well established service department. Proposals may be submitted by fax, email, or mail and must be received on or before close of business July 27, 2001. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures, FAR Part 13 (NTE $100,000.00). Proposals must include delivery date, F.O.B. point, business size, Federal Taxpayer Identification Number, and Duns and Bradstreet Number. Terms and Conditions and agency level protest procedures can be found on web site http: netsite.esa.doc.gov.oam. Hard copy in full text is available from the office address and phone number listed in notice. Technical questions can be directed to A.R. Ravishankara at 303-497-5821 or Harald Stark at 303-497-5426. MICHELLE BERNAL-Purchasing Agent. Anticipated award date July 30, 2001.
