- Description
- The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service intends to procure from SenSyTech Inc., the use and operation of one airborne thermal scanner and operator. The vendor is to provide an airborne, continuously recording, large swath across-track thermal band scanner, operator, and install and operate the scanner in a government provided high wing twin engine rental aircraft for a study of Pacific walruses. The scanner must collect a minimum of 1,400 pixels of data on every across-track sweep, and be able to detect temperature differences of 0.1 degrees centigrade. The system must include a black body calibration reference source to ensure accuracy and receptability of the data sets, and have an integrated Inertial Motion Unit to eliminate distortion from aircraft movement off of the flight track line. The Government requires delivery of all data for unrestricted use on 8mm storage media formatted for IBM compatible peronal computers operating in Windows. The period of service starts August 17, 2001, in Anchorage, Alaska, with installation and a five hour test flight to marine mammal habitats near Anchorage. The project relocates to Barrow, Alaska, for August 18, through August 23, 2001, for up to 30 flight hours over the Chukchi Sea, and returns to Anchorage late on August 23, when the system must be uninstalled from the rental aircraft. The vendor and the scanner system may travel in Government rented aircraft from Anchorage to Barrow and return at no cost, but must pay all other travel, shipping, lodging and per diem expenses related to mobilization, demobilization, and completion of the project. Inquiries may be directed to Marc Webber, Wildlife Biologist, at (907) 786-3479, or faxed to (907) 786-3923. SEE NUMBERED Note 22.
