- Description
- The Forest Plan Social and Economic Assessment is divided into two phases. Phase 1 is Data Assessment involving research and compilation of available data for southwest Montana, 1990-2001, for the topics of demographic trends, land use patterns, human lifestyle preferences, social and cultural history, community capacity to change and public attitudes, beliefs and values. Sources of information will include State and Federal Agency data (US Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks, Montana State Chamber of Commerce, etc.) as well as contracted studies and community studies. Phase 2 is a Social and Economic Report to fill data gaps indentified in Phase 1, to synthesize public input from the last 5 years, and to identify key social and economic issues as well as interpret social and economic data and how it relates to these issues in the Forest Plan Revision. This Data Assessment project is for the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest; Beaverhead, Jefferson, Madison, Butte-Silverbow, Granite, Deerlodge and Powell Counties; Montana. Work is estimated to begin September, 2001. Phase 1 to be completed by December, 2001 and Phase 2 to be completed by September, 2002. Price range is $25,000 to $100,000. Approximate issue date is July 20, 2001.
