Description

The U.S. Army Tank-Automotive Command (TACOM) intends to procure a Trailer Fifth Wheel Vertical Motion Actuator/Fixture in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) subpart 12.6 for Commercial Items and 13.5, Simplified Acquisitions Procedures. The award resulting from this solicitation shall be based on a Best Value Basis (FAR 12602, the offer that is most advantageous to the Government not necessarily lowest price). A written solicitation will be posted approximately 10 Jul 01 with a closing date of approximately 08 Aug 01. Answers to these questions will also be posted at the previous web-site. The Request for Quotation number for this procurement is DAAE07-01-T-0010. The Ground Vehicle Simulation Laboratory (GVSL) at TACOM has several large actuators (16-38 kip) which are used to setup four-post type tests for medium to large military vehicles. However, the GVSL is in need of one large capacity simulation system to bear the weight and sufficiently excite the front half of a military semi-trailer. This simulation system must also be capable of bearing and reacting to the large dynamic side loads which are induced by the vertical excitation at the rear wheels. It is the intent of this procurement to obtain a fifth-wheel simulation system which shall be able to excite at the front of a military semi-trailer in the vertical direction only while being able to withstand large dynamic side loads induced by the rear wheels. These actuators will be for TACOM's Physical Simulation Laboratory (PSL), building 215. A site visit is scheduled for 19 Jul 01 at 1:00 P.M if needed but not required.
