- Description
- Synopsis: Sealed bids from all business concerns will be accepted for the Great Smokey Mountains National Park Project PRA-GRSM 1A23, B16 in Sevier County, Tennessee. The project consists of the rehabilitation of the tunnels through Morton Mountain and Chimney Tops Mountain on Newfound Gap Road and installation of permanent variable message signs at the Park entrances. The work includes clearing and grubbing and removal of existing masonry guardwall, asphalt pavement, and other items. Additionally, the work includes slope scaling, roadway excavation, installing earthwork geotextiles, geogrids, and rock bolts; placement of aggregate base, asphalt paving, structural concrete, structural backfill, installing drainage chases, and construction of stone masonry guardwalls and headwalls. The work also includes installing and maintaining temporary traffic control including signs, striping, temporary concrete barriers, variable message signs, and temporary signal systems. The project is expected to fall within the price range of $5,000,000 and $10,000,000. Bid documents for Invitation for Bids No. DTFH71-01-B-00019, are scheduled for issue July 19, 2001. ATTENTION: Minority, Women-owned, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) The Department of Transportation (DOT), offers working capital financing and bonding assistance for transportation related contracts. DOT's Bonding Assistance Program (BAP) offers bid, performance and payment bonds on contracts up to $1,000,000. DOT's Short-Term Lending Program (STLP) offers lines of credit to finance accounts receivable. Maximum line of credit is $500,000 with interest at the prime rate.
