Description

THIS SOLICITATION IS A COMPETITIVE 8(A) PROCUREMENT RESTRICTED TO 8(a) FIRMS WHO ARE REGISTERED WITH THE SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION IN REGION VI (TX, NM, LA, OK, AR). Command & Control Facilities, Fort Hood, TX. Work consists of Constructing a Command and Control facilities, two standard-design brigade headquarters buildings, two large size standard-design battalion command and control buildings with classrooms, and six standard-design company operations and supply facilities. Supporting facilities include utilities; electric service; exterior lighting; paving, walks, curbs and gutters; parking; fire protection and alarm systems; storm drainage; information systems; and site improvements. Access for handicapped will be provided where required. Heating will be provided by gas-fired self-contained systems. Air conditioning will be provided by self-contained systems. Installation of intrusion detection systems for arms rooms is included. Special foundations required by expansive soil. The Base bid plus one or more options is estimated to be approximately $13,600,000.00. Solicitation will issue on or about 19 July 2001. Sealed Bids are due on or about 21 August 2001. Duration of the construction project will be approximately 420 days. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) Code applicable to this project is 233320, Commercial and Institutional Building Construction, which corresponds to SIC Code 1542. The plans and specifications have been placed on a Compact Disk (CD-ROM) and will be provided free of charge on the issue date. Plans and specifications will not be provided in a paper hard copy format. Notification of amendments shall be made through 3.5" diskette, CD Rom and/or the Internet. However, the Government reserves the right to use only the Internet as notification of any changes to this solicitation. It is therefore the contractor's responsibility to check the following address daily for any posted changes to this solicitation. Contractors may view and/or download this solicitation and all amendments from the Internet after solicitation issuance at the following Internet address: http://ebs.swf.usace.army.mil. Bidders shall register themselves on the Internet to receive a copy of this solicitation (CD-ROM). NO EXPRESS MAIL PROCEDURES WILL BE UTILIZIED ON INITIAL MAILING OF THE CD. If you are a sub-contractor or a supplier, you are not required to be registered as an 8(a) firm with the Small Business Administration to place a bid on this solicitation. The Corps of Engineers accepts bids from Prime Contractors only.
